HELP! Ask a Librarian
is Henderson County's Electronic Library Personnel and allows library patrons to seek information via email. This service is open to all residents of Henderson County and to those with questions that the library has unique local resources for (i.e., obituaries printed in the local paper, biographical information on notable residents of Henderson County, etc.).

This service is designed to answer brief, factual questions or provide search strategies for more in-depth queries. It is NOT designed to answer lengthy reference questions or offer medical, legal or financial advice.

Examples of questions that can be answered are:
  • I would like a copy of John Doe's obituary; he died in Hendersonville on May 13, 1985.
  • Who is the president of Y Airlines? Where may I write to him/her?
  • I need book reviews for The Drama. Where can I find some online?
  • Do you have any biographical information on C.G. Memminger? I am especially interested in locating information from locally published materials.
  • What was the population of the United States in 1950? 2000?
As the examples above show, questions should be specifically stated, focused and involving the same topic. Requests for genealogical information should include as much biographical detail as possible; note that our local paper is not electronically indexed, so relevant dates are required for obituaries, birth announcements, marriage notices, etc.

A librarian will make every effort to contact a patron within two (2) business days after a question has been submitted. Weekends and holidays may delay responses. Currently, there is no fee for this service. However, if a librarian needs to print pages for mailing or branch pickup, there is a limit of ten (10) pages per question/request.

If you would prefer to speak with a librarian, please visit your local library or call the Reference Desk at (828) 697-4725. If you wish to submit an email reference question, then click on the button below to ask for HELP!
